Garðwin I

Also known as: Garðwin the First, Great-storm, Garðwin Great-storm, Sailor-king

Garðwin I, called Great-storm, was the first-born son of Þordil the Great and the first of his name in the dynasty. He was a fearless sailor and conqueror who took up axe and shield in many a campaign to the west, where he carved a mighty domain under his father’s rule, crushing and subjugating all that stood between him and the ultimate prize: Kiegnarrzsk.

That fabled island fortress, home of legendary sailors for hundreds of years, lay split by civil war between the sons of Yanterr. Their attention drawn thin, the brothers fought to the end against Garðwin’s inevitable conquest.

With the Islanders subjugated, Garðwin set out for his final voyage to the great abyss in search of the leviathan Salt-bane. He did not return; the beast slew him, as it had slain many before.

By Berta he fathered one son: Bæurn Serpent-bane.
